2D Design + Adobe Suite

The 2Dimensional Design course introduces foundational visual composition skills, focusing on the interaction between design elements and design principles. Through a series of iterative projects, students engage in compositional studies that explore how these elements and principles interrelate to create effective and aesthetically compelling designs.

Each class incorporates examples of professional designs and artworks that demonstrate the application of these concepts. This helps students contextualize their learning and see how foundational techniques translate into real-world design practices. By connecting the course content to professional examples, students—often freshmen or sophomores—can better appreciate the relevance of foundational design principles to the broader design field, fostering greater engagement.

To further bridge the gap between theory and practice, the course emphasizes the use of digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Students gain hands-on experience in applying their 2D design knowledge to digital workflows, exploring vector-based illustration, digital compositing, and layout design. This not only reinforces their understanding of design fundamentals but also equips them with practical skills for producing professional-level work.

By combining theoretical knowledge, practical application, and professional tools, this course provides students with a strong foundation in 2D design, setting the stage for their future success in the field.
